With the rise of more and more “power-hungry” software, their is an equal need for larger and larger processors. To answer the call, Intel has stepped up to the plate and rapidly delivered gigantic processors, that 8 yrs. ago would have been myth.

It was just in 1957 that a Prentice Hall editor said “I have travelled the length and breadth of this country and talked with the best people, and I can assure you that data processings is a fad that won’t last out the year.” To say the least, the computer has surpassed anything the inventors of computers imagined. With that said, what should you look for in a computer before you purchase one? I will take you through a simple list of parts to look for in a computer. We will evaluate first the basic computer, (Enough power for the college student typing papers) Moderate Computer, Moderate advanced computer, and lastly the Advanced computer.
So what are the elements that make up a computer “innards” ?
1.Case (The case also called a chassis houses the components that comprise the computer.)

2. Power supply and Fan( The Power supply or PSU, converts outlet power (AC) to (DC) it also provides special voltages for the motherboard. The fan provides cooling for the processor motherboard and RAM.)

3. Motherboard ( The Motherboard, is what “connects” the inside together)
Everything connects to the motherboard.

4.Processor (The Processor or CPU is the brain of the computer, all the computation takes place here.)

5.Memory (The Memory or RAM of the computer is what the CPU stores data on. Data is lost when the computer is shutdown.)

6.Hard Drive (The Hard Drive is what the computer stores data on when the computer is shutdown.)

7.Optical Drive (The Optical Driver or CD/DVD burner /reader is what the computer uses to write information on that you want saved.)

8.Video Card (The Video Card or GPU is what the computer uses to output vide to the screen. Some motherboards have built in GPU, but for heavy duty graphics, a second Video Card would need to be installed.)

9.Sound Cards (The Sound Card enables the computer to output audio, most motherboards have built in Sound Cards, but for the labor intensive MIDI or Surround Sound work, a second Sound Card would need installed.)
